Older unpowered speakers are cool. It's looking like I'm leaning toward the powered speakers probably. Looking for one that plays overall music and beats really well more than just projecting vocals or a live band.
@airloom About to sell a loud and compact PA system.
Ditto. I'm curious. I have powered speakers but I am going to need something different for amplifying mics and computers than the DJ mixer I currently have on hand. I'm helping a group cobble together a mobile A/V set up for just speakers/vocals and computer video presentations with audio. Don't need anything fancy but I thought I'd put it out there in case someone is looking to get rid of gear.
I like my Mackie VLZ4 series mixer, the onyx pre-amps are nice and there's no FX to mess with the signal path. Very straight forward operation, I have the smallest one (402VLZ4) and it;s pretty flexible for a dj/vocal PA. You'll need to decide how many channels you want
Sub in the set up I mentioned above for the wedding it was a QSC 18"
