If ya need any assistance on tape dubbing, talk to me. I can get those 100 done in under an hour.
why is the location top secret?
It's a small place trying to avoid too much attention from the authorities.
Don't sweat it. It'll be pretty easy for interested parties to figure it out.

THIS IS MY BIRTHDAY. DEDICATE A SONG TO ME. I'LL COME DOWN TO THE HEXAGON BECAUSE IT'S THREE BLOCKS AWAY
It shall be done.
TIIGHT. I might have to hit the Hexagon jam up.

Oh, and buttons, courtesy of Mariah from The Short Cuts.

Turns out PBT and the FA's can't play, as PB himself has been unexpectedly summoned to the pacific northwest.
So, the All Ages line-up will be as follows--
MC/VL
Baby Guts
The Strait A's
The Shortcuts!

I have found my new "beach" shirt.
I also plan on cutting the neck and the sleeves off. Redneck tank top, all the way!

How did somebody break their ankle?
By imagining he had the strength of 10.
I jumped off a thing.
Five days away and I still don't walk so good. Who's got a gramma with a wheelchair? Methinks I'll need one for Satruday...
I hurt my ankle at a show in Madison. I was jumping off a public planter onto a construction site wall.
i still have problems with it a year later. whoops
I am excited for this show

Gettin freaky in a drapey dashiki.
I want to use that line but I'm allergic to racial tension.
And just to add to the mystery, there'll be a pretty dope guest appearance by a radical hometown hero at the hexagon show.
Marv Davidoff!
I actually waited tables for a commie musical tribute to Marv. Robert Bly was there.
bad tippers.
haha - color me unsurprised.
Robert Bly spoke at my high school once, and then had the nerve to hi-jack lit class afterward. Bloated and puffy in every respect. When reading his poetry, he read everything twice (and believe me, once was more than enough), and kept insisting that we should not set foot out of bed until we had written a meaningful poem. I tried to parlay that into a few days of hookey without success.

Alot of people have messaged me about the secret all ages show. Got clearance from the people who run the place to give out the address the morning of the show to people who RSVP via messaging our myspace page.
Hmmm. I wonder why that didn't work.
Meh. Copy and paste, bitches.

100 tapes and 200 CD-Rs. what year is this?
;)
I don't get it.
Was a release of 300 really big in the mid 90's or something?
I was more bewildered by the tapes.
Tapes sell, nuck. Plus it's easy-peasy DIY shit.
Oh, yeah? Why don't just go to Austin and sell'em there.

It's tomorrow! After the trials to which I've been subjected this week, I'm gonna really enjoy getting my angries out.
im going to the all ages show at the "secret place". just so you know VL, im pretty sure other bands are promoting that venue by name and address on their myspace pages, the people at the venue should inform the bitches of how they actin'.
Well, we all have the venue name on our myspace page but I just checked and no one is publicizing the address.
But really, we're being secret in part to protect the venue, and also as a CYA measure (i.e. if shit hits fans and too many awesome peeps show up to party, I can shrug and say we kept our end of the secret).
It's just that, ever since we sorta fucked stuff up at the organ haus, I'm super anal about being conscientious when we play houses. Figure that works out best for everyone.
the hex show lineup sounds good. i'm not sure i want to be out late though. is that the order?
Baby guts 1st
Mute Era 2nd
His Mischief 3rd
Super-secret guest 4th
MC/VL last
thanks!
No sweat. Hope you can make it!

Final bump.

Thinking I will make it to the hexagon. That will be a killer show.
Shane just asked me if i was going to "narc up" the house show.
He is instantly the coolest kid ever.
That happened some time ago.
Touche.
I presume the young master will be at the all ages show? I have yet to meet him face to face...
I will have to ask him. AGAIN
Can I ground him if he doesn't come?
Anyone who tells me to break a leg gets a knee to the how's-your-father.
I was just going to say we need less Penn and more Teller.
i was here/there. lani didn't remember meeting me at community gardens on my birthday. what a b#$@&, yah know? just kiddin' girl u no i luv u. even though i think mute era has been playing the same set for 6 years, they get better every time i see them. and his mischief was waaaaaaay better than when i saw them at the turf a long time ago. blah blah blah. sound has been sketchy lately at the hex... way quieter than usual and goofy mic shit all happening. bumming me out huge.
NICE TO SEE: mrmb and babes.
noah p says:

i'm proud of myself for only having one beer tonight and no trunk whiskey at a hex show... WOAH.
i had many beers and i made lani buy me a fruity shot

fun fun fun.
tom, ban still life. hes a creep!
sound has been sketchy lately at the hex... way quieter than usual and goofy mic shit all happening.
Yeah, never met that particular sound guy before... he mixed Stef really well, but seemed unwilling or unable to turn poor Clyde's mic up...
That aside, and despite our sloppiness, a busted ankle, latent strep, and a shit ton of extraneous anxieties weighing on me, this was the time of my life. Great crowd, madly in love with all the bands that played, and proud of the EP we put out.
So thanks to anyone who went.
the all ages show was great - the short cuts were great...
Seconded.
VL, i'd like to publicly call "bullshit" for your whole sick/busted ankle thing. you looked/sounded great. if i was a chick, you'd make my panty melt.
Ah, the powers of whiskey.
Thanks, still life!
First Bambi-esque attempts at walking around the apartment suggest only mild soft tissue damage to the ankles.
But I already foresee lurching around like an arthritic monkey skeleton in my twilight years.

The bad mic for Clyde thing was wack, but otherwise I was LOVING the volume of this show. I'm getting sick of shows being uber-loud for loud's sake. It was nice to go home without a headache and to feel like earplugs weren't a total necessity. You can still hear everything perfectly well when a show is "only" as loud as last night at the Hex was.
The sound guy totally had music playing during the first couple of Baby Guts songs. Well done.
That I did not notice. I think he was really high, or pissed to be there, or brand new, or something. He was not "walking with purpose" as my father would say-- no sense of urgency between bands...
But I actually thought the mix was sweet for all the bands. For some reason, sound guys who mix bands really well seem to have a hard time mixing rap. Can any sound people here explain that? I don't know anything about that stuff, but I would have imagined that rap, particularly with a setup like ours (one stereo output and two mics) would be infinitely easier to mix than a full band. But maybe I'm wrong...
I didn't want Mute Era's set to end last night, and His Mischief sounded so fucking vibrant. And I still struggle to understand how Baby Guts can do two shows in one night with screams like that.
yeah dog, His Mischief fucking killed it.
I thought you guys sounded pretty good, to be quite honest.
i like it when mute era is super loud.
Me too!
For about the first year I was seeing Mute Era, I thought her kick drum said "DANKE" and not "DANCE."
