Poppa, we watched this live and when he dropped ""MAYBE I'LL JUST PUT ON A SUIT AND TIE AND EAT A HAPPY MEAL!" while rocking in A SUIT AND TIE I fucking lost it. That sketch is beyond awesome, Armisen is fucking great.

As I recall the "hardcore scene" in the 80's were these people. Confused.

i'm just sayin'...it's a good piss-take of 80s hc, but saying it nails the entire genre 100% is off-base. that's like saying Spinal Tap is a spot-on portrayal of the entire metal genre.
mainly, it wouldn't be funny if it were 100% accurate.
it's funny cuz it's a caricature of the more mockery-worthy aspects of a very specific period of the genre, one which armisen is clearly knowledgeable about.

From my experience, I prefer the old hardcore guys that are portrayed in this skit to the ones that lived hard and are still hanging out in basements and creeping out all the youngsters.

Mags, I concur. Obviously there are total dud skits sometimes, but I feel genuinely excited when I see Armisen, Thompson and Wig. Even sometimes Samberg, which is interesting cuz at first I HATED him but man he's really come around and his Rahm Emanuel was MINT.

My favorite part of this sketch is at the end after Fred sez: "We're Crisis of Conformity" and Sudekis yells out "Yeah you are!"

Also the recent SNL w/ Charles Barkely was chainless

i can't stand thompson. he's a terrible actor, has zero ability to do impressions, and because he's the lone black guy he always has to do the impression if there's a famous black person in a skit, and finally he's worse than Fallon was in terms of laughing through skits.

Charles Barkley brings it WHEREVER HE GOES.

Also, the wife next to Sedekis (was it Wig?) all standing at attention and giving the most sincere clapping.

Watching this a second time, you notice that Ashton Kutcher is doing total dumb "rock star" moves with his guitar. It kind of makes it all funnier, in that he's in a sketch that is a parody of something he knows nothing about.

Also, it wouldn't surprise me at all of Grohl helped write that sketch.

Can't speak for the current quality, but I agree with this. I was watching season 1 recently, and it is not that funny. I think I laughed four times in six episodes. Not much of a Golden Age, if you ask me.

Reggie, I thought that too, it totally seemed like the brain-bbay of Armisen/Grohl.

This sketch rocked it balls out, etc.

I enjoy SNL when they do stuff like this and not celebrity impressions. That shit has gotten sad. Darrell Hammond is no Phil Hartman. TRUTH BOMB.

I love and hate Samberg. He can be genius and he can be mind numbingly stupid and desperate for laughs. There seems to be no in between. That Rahm Emmanuel things was great though. Lazer Cats is played out. But the Dick In A Box shit will always rule.

Kristen Wiig just seems to do grotesque or repressed lady characters. She's rarely been as funny as she was in her cameo in Knocked Up.

Crisis of Conformity
Lyrics for "Fist Fight" by Fred Armisen

When Ronald Reagan comes around
He brings the fascists to your town
You think it's cool to be a jock
But we all get beat up by cops

It's a
Fist fight fist fight
Fist fight in the parking lot
Fist fight fist fight
Fist fight in the parking lot

(Spoken, Fred)
I guess my mind's all messed up
But isn't that a result of going to your schools being a part of your system following your orders

(Ashton)
I guess you want me to put on a suit and tie and eat my happy meal

(Dave-his mic dropped out for a few lines, then Ashton gave him his )
I guess you want me to have 2.5 children and a white picket fence I have a better idea. Why don't I kick in your windows with my boots

(Fred)
You hear that Alexander Haig? You getting all that Ed Meese?

It's time for a
Fist fight fist fight
Fist fight in the parking lot
Fist fight fist fight
Fist fight in the parking lot

I watched a chunk of the last season today, and it was way funnier than the "Not Yet Ready for Primetime Players" era. Watching this show in order, I can't wait to find out when it gets funny. I'm starting to believe I was alive when it happened.
