& Califone, Souled American, Marissa Nadler, Fruit Bats, Janet Bean, the excellent bassist Liz Payne, more.

Thought I'd at least break the news in case anyone here is interested. Really excited to see this tribute coming together for her, she had a great spooky voice & some of her lyrics really floored me.

Some info on Diane Izzo. She played in Chicago mostly in the late 90s and she died about a year ago of brain cancer.

Diane's husband Marco has been working on this for quite a while now and he's anxious to get it finished.
We were all roommates, along with the (also late) Bill Pisarri, of the Revenge-era Flying Luttenbachers.
The track I'm covering is one she used to play around the apartment--I hadn't heard it in 16 years.

Also normal man plays drums on the track I'm doing, thank you normal man

I'll post more when I know more, like label or Kickstarter or whatever. Hope you will buy/listen/enjoy.

Thanks for reading.

Bump for the workday crowd. Hope this interests some of you, and that people
dig Diane Izzo's stuff.

I feel pretty honored to be on this thing & I don't mind if I'm the dude whose track
everybody skips, but hopefully those of you into in any of these other bands are
willing to shell out a few bucks to grab this record. Kind of amazing Diane's husband
is getting this thing whipped together himself, esp considering he's not in great health.
A few things that aren't cheap: brain cancer, kidney transplants & dialysis, recording.

Thanks for reading!

I don't know Diane Izzo, but it sounds like a cool project. Is there a place to hear her originals, beyond the above link? Was the track you are doing ever released, or just one you knew from the apartment?

Hey, dude. Not really. Her record eventually came out in 1999--kind of that lost zone
before everything got archived on the internet but there were still a billion magazines
while the cost of paper was compounding. So there are a few tracks scattered on the
internet, myspace, blah blah blah, but according to articles like this Chicagoist one
there are like 80 unreleased tracks.

According to this article from the Chicago Tribune their medical bills came close to $1 million?! That's bonkers.

Agreed, and thanks, man.

any news about all the unreleased material coming out in some form?

I think that's one of the things he's trying to take care of, but I have no idea about the details.

Bump.

Heard from dude last night—looks like he's shooting for end of June to have this thing assembled.

I don't know anything about label yet or anything like that.

Just heard the in-progress KoM track for this, and I think it will be great.
