The earliest details are sketchy at best. Nathan & J. Michael first talked about starting a band together sometime in late 2002. The idea was to form "the ultimate basement party band". Together, they wrote and recorded the foundation for the first three songs that would later become A Topography of Boils, An Idiot for Tits, and Continental Dog in February of 2003. A CD-R was made and given to Adam, who soon agreed to join the band.

The same CD-R was given to Chris a few weeks later on the suggestion by J. Michael that a singer be added to the band to free up both guitarists from a microphone. Once Chris decided to give it a shot, 2 1/2 weeks passed before the foursome could have their first rehearsal with all in attendance. 9 days later, STNNNG played their first show on April 5, 2003, at Big V's in St. Paul, MN, opening for Sicbay, Cheer-Accident, and Oh,Beast!.

The first live performance consisted of 5 songs and clocked in under 12 minutes.

In November 2003, the group met with friend David Storberg to record for the first time at IPR in Minneapolis. Four tracks were recorded: An Idiot for Tits, How to Avoid an Assassination, I felt it; for an instant, I knew what it was...and then it was vanished., and We Keep it Dark. The latter two songs found their way onto the reverse side of a split 7" with Ohio's The Means (released by Nodak Records out of Chicago), while the former two enjoyed brief airplay on local radio station, Radio K, after the band submitted all four songs as a demo package. This demo was nominated for "Best Punk Recording" by the Minnesota Music Academy in 2004.

July 2004 found the band back in the studio, this time in Chicago at Mike Lust's "Phantom Manor". The three day session resulted in STNNNG's first full-length release, Dignified Sissy. Modern Radio released the CD (mastered by Dave Gardner at Magneto Mastering), while the band themselves put out the LP.

Between the time the album was mastered in November 2004, and the time it was released on April 5, 2005 (the two-year anniversary of STNNNG's first show), bass player Jesse Kwakenat was integrated into the lineup. He quickly picked up on the band's catalog of songs, and played his first live show on January 28, 2005. Now a 5-piece, STNNNG has consistently toured the midwest and is constantly playing locally.

The followup album to “Dignified Sissy” was recorded, again with Mike Lust in two sessions, September, 2005 and May, 2006. The new album is titled “Fake Fake” and was released by Modern Radio on CD and LP in the November of 2006. STNNNG toured the East coast in the Fall of 2006 and continues to circle the Middle West.
